About Baby Davis

At the moment, I am known as Baby Davis and I live in my mum. Last week, mum saw me practising breathing already so my lungs are going to be strong and loud.

When mum goes on maternity leave (dad calls it “holidays”), she will add some more pages of information about me. The two of them might even starting adding a few of their thoughts about the process leading up to my arrival.

Thanks for reading, now it’s back to my lessons – breath in, breathe out …

Well firstly I would like to congratulate you on your breathing efforts, that will be a very useful life tool, well done. Also a big thankyou to you on making me an Auntie officially for the first time.I also made the most amount of cousins for you in one place so i think that gives me a chance in baby sitting you when Mum and Dad need a break, not that I think they will let you out of their sight very often.Although with big strong lungs like yours you never ,we can only hope.We are all very excited to meet you as are your Mum and Dad.Hope you dont give Mum too much of a hard time in hospital.Lots of love and kisses and hugs to you ‘Annie’. Hello Baby Davis,
Wow, so great to be introduced before you’ve really taken a big breath in this wide wonderful world. You think it’s comfy in your Mum, but there’s so much more to enjoy, smell, taste, touch etc. Very, very exciting. You might be kind to your Mum when you decide it’s time to move from your comfy room and check out the world! I’m intrigued to find out what name lies in store for you – so many choices (I hope you like Leonard Cohen music!). Love, Sandy and Geoff

Thank you all for your kind words so far. Seems a lot of you want to call me “Heather” – mum and dad will have the final say. As for me, I just want somebody to make a decision for me.

Now, what was I up to, oh, that’s right, kick mummy from the inside – thwack!

Baby Davis, are you really a girl? Sometimes ultra-sounds are wrong. And are you alone? I hope you trick Mum and Dad and bring a friend.
All the best for your trip, looking forward to seeing you.

Hello Nadia – now that I know you are having a girl, I want to change my advice to you. In all my limited wisdom, with two children under my belt (literally!), I believe that asking for help when you very first think you would like some company or some help, call someone. Before your baby is born, make a list of the people you can call for different reasons – during the day, in the middle of the night, to ask for someone to visit or to ask strange questions like what are those white spots on the roof of her mouth or is blood in poo normal or she’s crying and won’t stop…! Just put the list of names on the fridge so that when you are beyond tired and can’t think, it’s all there for you to just read! And whatever the thought, don’t hesitate to pick up the phone. No-one will mind. I certainly don’t have all the answers but I am happy to be one of the people you can call anytime of day or night. At least once I hang up at 2am I can go straight back to sleep! You and Steve however, may not! But what a wonderful little miracle you will have in your arms. Can’t wait to meet Heather.

    Love Sandra

My, Aunty Sandra, they are very kind words. I am going to give mum a good kick right now, to make sure she takes your advice first thing in the morning. Hmmm, why wait til morning, she may as well get some practice in bowing to my beck and call … here we go … thwack … think she is beginning to stir …
